[NOVEL] Business Casual by B.K. Borison

Welcome to Backlog #1.
It's currently 5th of April (at the time of me posting this), I had my share of stress due to life events. Now to abstract myself from it, I'll try to return to month ago when I started stress-reading and recall my thoughts and feeling about the books I've finished. I'm not a reliable narrator in this one, because partially my brain was zoning out.

Two opposites decide to test their chemistry with one steamy night together. But will once be enough?
Nova Porter isn’t looking for love, and she certainly has no explanation for her attraction to buttoned-up, three-piece-suit-wearing investment banker Charlie Milford. Maybe it’s his charm? Or maybe it’s his determination to help her fledgling business however he can. Either way, she’s distracted every time he’s around. With her new tattoo studio set to open in her hometown of Inglewild, she doesn’t have time for frivolous flirtations.
In an effort to get Charlie out of her system once and for all, Nova offers a proposition. One night. No strings. They’ll kick their uncomfortable attraction to the curb and return to their respective responsibilities. But their explosive night together scatters their expectations like fallen leaves. And with Charlie in town as the temporary head of Lovelight Farms, Nova can’t quite avoid him.
And Charlie? Well, Charlie knows a good investment when he sees one. He’s hoping he can convince Nova he’s worth some of her time.

Lovelight Farms. Book 4

I decided to read the fourth book because it was recommended somewhere along the line before I even picked up First-time caler by the same author. I decided to give them a second chance, because I felt like this author is not really for me and the book felt a bit bland.
Although it is said that you can read it as stand-alone, there is enough reference to characters from other books in this one to be feeling left out a bit.

Nova Porter is a tattoo artist who got herself her own place in her own hometown. I couldn't care less about her occupation, I'm not a tattoos fan, but what I never get in books like these is when everyone around her just tell you that she is amazing, instead of something happening that will make you think that she is. Only in the end when she decided to go after the person she loved I could cheer "you go girl". But prior to this it was more like descriptive positive thinking from people who are related or her friends. I'm telling you that without other characters telling me I'd still be very impressed that she managed to open her own tattoo place. I can't judge the artistic style through the book though.
On the other hand I couldn't get her inner conflict, is it because she's main here or there is some story to be seen in previous books, but I really couldn't get her "perfectionist" part and her inability to just invite her own brother who is her best support to see what she is creating. It felt strange how they should be close, but lacked communication and understanding on her part that her brother definitely will not be disappointed.
From the other side is Charlie, well, his situation is similar, but yet different? But he's great and nice. He offers to look after the farm and live in this small town while his sister will spend her much-deserved honeymoon with the person she loves. Charlie adores this place, to him it's the muc anticipated vacation and oasis from his stressful workplace. Again the need of previous books since he's not the only child of his father, he also has the half-sister he had no idea about before she appeared, but he still keeps doing things for his father's acknowledgement. Even if that prick gets in the way all the time.
Anyway they decide to spend one night together but it did not go as planned, the night turned into a period of time he was staying in this town. Funnily everyone knew about what is going on, which is revealed later.

I just think that if I was more impressed by it I would remember more of it. They just spent time together, were sneaking around, because didn't want to be known to others (yeah right). And then just realized they cared a lot about each other when got closer.
And when he was gone, they both did the same thing, but thankfully one did it faster, Nova came to NY to get together for real.

I don't even have notes from planner I used to keep track of the novels. Says a lot about my own attention span.

Hopefully this post will be shown as posted on 9th of March, the date I finished this book.
