Part 1
Part 2
Office romance I find one of the best classics in the cinema. I honestly love older movies, eastern or western it doesn't matter, because there is something about them, some honest passion for making movies when directors didn't think about any agenda, but make a good movie.
The video is taken from official YouTube channel and it also has English subs, which is great plus. I love that one can re-watched beloved films in this day.
Office romance is a movie that tells a story about an average worker, Novoselcev, and his immediate director (head manager in modern language), Kalugina. He's given not such an honest idea to flirt with her to let her see the prospect of giving him a raise (but it's not as vulgar as it'd be in modern movie, it's really just a flirt, I'd say it's only an attempt ahaha). Novoselcev fails miserably, because he's not really a confident person to begin with and their interaction that was forced by the situation allows him to see her true self. Not a rigid director that has nothing in her life except work, but a woman.
It's interesting how their relationship tranforms both of them, especially her.
I love how actors played in those years. Unlike nowadays there were many actors who you'd say did not look like actors and this is the main point to me, their appearance was mallable and that's what an actor should be, they should look like someone you can imagine playing different professions/roles. Sometimes there are those who are not afraid of changing themselves to fit the role, others not so much.
