Summary: Jian Tao is a popular florette in the entertainment industry, from her first viral dancing to the consequent roles in dramas she has become a top traffic. Xie Xinchuan is a second son from teh Xie family, it is rumored that he entered entertainment industry just for fun, but he reached heights others would not dare to dream about. And no one knew that two people who were described to openly have the worst relationship ever were actually secretly married.
Jian Tao strictly followed the contract of her company and thought that Xingchuan did the same, she couldn't interact with him, have works together before she wanted to win an endorsement that would allow to showcase her ability to dominate the big screen,s he wanted to use it for winning a big leading role. So she asked him to connect her with the variety show that would help her. But this variety show allowed them to have the emotional breakthrough and stop being a plastic couple.
The entire network said - any other CP can overturn, but the fakest CP of these two will never, because everyone knows they're impossible.
I must say closer to the middle and the later section are quite delicate and emotionally it's actually a nice love story. So the later part is the better part to me. I'm saying this, because partially I felt I needed some of the imformation disclosed later to be known earlier, especially about the heroine.
Story
The story indeed starts from the variety show. In this moment in time Jian Tao and Xingchuan actually don't have a complete plastic marriage, they are intimate, but they are not close emotionally and you can say during this long stay together they finally build up the emotional connection and their relationship gets a deeper connotation, but the reason they got married and why they act like this is brushed off, Jian Tao only says it was needed, but what for is a mystery for some time.
She actually had a misconception about Xingchuan too, maybe because he brought the feeling they had during the year he transferred to her school, like "this guy is handsome, yes indeed, but sometimes he says some irritating things that deserve a beating". It was also a mystery why Xingchuan acted like that, which we find out exactly when we gat a backstory for Jian Tao herself. But at this time you note that he's not some emotionless scumbag, he would do good things for her, but he want present it as kindness or a gesture of other emotion. maybe I was reading without thinking much and now thinking back maybe hint was in there? That for a reason he did not show his goodwill, but you know for sure that he hides emotions in his heart towards her. But why not disclose it?
At this time Jian Tao really thinks that both got what they wanted from this marriage and he obliged by the need of being as separate on camera as possible, so everyone knew they had a bad relationship, but no one knew they were classmates for a year.
The show allowed them to be together and Jian Tao indeed was afraid to be found, but there were situations where she needed his help and they acted as if having an affair behind the production team back. Funnily one person eventually found out, but she was so positive about them that she was happily guarding their relationship, which was cute.
later when they finished filming after a long time Jian Tao stayed with Xingchuan at his place, because it was most comfortable and also the connection they've built she did not want to break off suddenly. They are indeed busy people, having announcements and work, but later they return to this room to stay together.
Later it is explained why she is the way she is, why they got married.
And there is a story from his side, because now that she is interested, although not completely understanding her own heart, she finds out the truth about Xingchuan who was always like an aloof young master who liked to bicker with her, later they did not see each other much and later when he needed a partner and she needed a home they reached such an agreement, but only digging deeper and finally uncovering the truth she realized what secret was held in his heart all these years.
Of course it's a happy ending, because it was hard for her to imagine someone else, although emotionally she thougth she would be fine alone when they achieve what they strived for in this relationship, but realized that she can't go on alone anymore.
Characters
Main characters fo the story and the focus of attention are Jian Tao and Xie Xingchuan. Some secondary characters also appear, but they don't have that deep impression, so they only serve a supporting role.
Jian Tao is actually a really serious person about her career, otherwise she wouldn't plan to go to variety show, to get endorsment and enhance her chances getting the role that was auditioned for several rounds for months. Although it is brushed off, but at least you can feel that she is running around all the time, spends her time preparing and doing stuff to prove that she not only a traffic flower, but an actress, she wants to be recognized. So here is interesting to see the effect of her choices that seemingly lead to what she is striving for. Like the programs she chooses or works etc. Of course it is beautifully crowned with success. What is great is that this novel simply lacks black material and drama of many entertainment articles.
Xie Xingchuan is seemingly at the peak of this circle, untouchable, but the only person who holds him in this circle is actually his wife. Although he seems aloof, but he is a man of profound emotion. His deep love for Jian Tao is really touching. Even if he acts like a dog almost all the time, but this is also explained, but the part where he explains his past and feelings is something I think I got impressed about the most from the novel.

Now why I think that I needed some information a bit earlier or I simply might have not caught on "hints".
This has something to do with Jian Tao's past, it is actually dumped on you quite heavily and suddenly and this actually made me tear up.
Jian Tao was always living with her grandma, her mother is said to be working outside and her father is the only who accompanied her, but after a short and happy childhood it became only a heavy burden and suffocation. Her father wanted her to achieve greatness and pushed her the hardest, she did not have any leisure like others, she always had to go to some extra classes, doing everything extra, even was made to go to the science class she didn't like. And when her marks didn't reach the top, although they were in top ten which is a great result for others, she was belittled and lectured, but it was all wrapped up in the package of "love", so she feared love from the opposite sex and refused everyone. Thus Xingchuan's attitude towards the relationship, he knew her better than she knew herself, he knew she would run away if he confessed back then and they might even not be friends anymore. She was not ready for love at all.
But then her father met a rich woman who asked him to completely cut the relationship with the past and he ran the fastest and abandoned his own daughter for instant success. But also even sold the old house, so she didn't even have a home to come back to. She had nothing behind her, no financial help, nothing. Thus she agreed to the marriage proposal, she wanted some connection not to get lost in this world where everyone praised her for her good looks, good grades, being sensible, "the other people's child", but she was abandoned by her parents. Her father did not achieve anything and her mother who was supposed to work outside just escaped, because she considered it a "poor" household, so he pushed all the demands on his daughter, to make his ex-wife regret leaving them.
Her father doesn't appear much in the story, only in her flashback memories of childhood and during marriage (you can see that he is ready to sacrifice his own daughter for his own success) and after Jian Tao became a hit with her movie he came back wanting the whole family, her biological mother included, to have a family dinner, but she made her attitude clear and left.
This is why she was against love and only after finding out how Xingchuan loved her all these years she was moved.
Back to Xingchuan. Some of these things are unfortunately brushed off, so some parts make you feel like a lot of time was spent on them, but actually his past didn't get a lot of time, his love instead had enough space.. maybe because this story doesn't want to have anything too dark this is why it doesn't go into detail, but I didn't have enough of him here.
His mother was the second wife of his father, very kind woman, she also introduced a person to the Xie family, who eventually became a mistress and later Xingchuan's stepmother and her son is only three years younger than Xingchuan. It is not really detailed how this stepmother wanted to act against him, we only know that she transferred him twice, year with Jian Tao, year in another school. Well, we know he was lonely and had to pretend to be like a dandy to lower his stepmother's vigilance. I really felt like it lacked being a bit more profound here.
For him he also felt like he was drifting like Jian Tao, but when he transferred schools she was the one who caught him, inadvertantly, and he fell deeply in love. If someone is described as White Moonlight, she was it for him. Their highschool bickering, his idea of confessing, but knowing how she would react he held back time and time again. Marrying her for the sake of making his stepmother to believe that he's still a dandy was all excuse, he just caught the chance to be together. Their intimate life was a complete surprise to him, because it came from her drunk accident and she took initiative (she didn't remember) and from then on they continued to be intimate, because she wasn't repulsed too.
The variety show indeed gave them a chance to develop, but looking back you now know why he still said things in irritating way instead of making it sound like she does it because he cares about her.
Later when he finally pierced this window paper she started to feel more and eventually finds out through random memory box the secret of him having someone in his heart and only meeting his friend who spilled the beans she realized that he was talking about herself, the one in Xingchuan's heart always been her for all these years. She stayed with him.
He actually did a lot of things behind her back, like his travels back which were rare were all about her, some of the things he did and even the reason why he enetered entertainment industry was also were results of her inadvertant words.
The way he took back the company left by his mother is skipped, only some short episode where he met his father who should now feel the consequences of betrayal of that time. So partially I felt it was not enough of a backstory for him, even though it was still touching when his love for her was explained, it is truly the only love and it could only be her for him.

RATE: 4/5. Some occasional feel of shallowness did not diminish the fact that I liked it, especially the parts that were treated with care. It's a good love story that is completely harmless with only a drop of tear to feel compassioned about main character. Overall feeling is really nice and by the end you feel happy about these two.
