While previously the ML had to stay in the body of the wolf cub for a while, ML here is a cat with cultivation, the biggest difference is that although he had to stay in the cat body for some time, but he changed back pretty quickly. And because both MLs are cute animals their love interests, our MCs just LOVE small furry animals.
Synopsis: Ji Feng in his first live was an honest and somewhat naive and kind-hearted young man. The twin sister begged her brother to let her go, because she didn't want to stay in the mountains. As kind-hearted and responsible as he was, Ji Feng let it go. So Ji Xue became Feng Ruixue and lived in luxury compared to her life in the mountains and because one of the Feng brothers became rich and famous, Ruixue's adoptive father and to-be fiance rode on the coattales of their relatives success. Ji Feng came out of the mountain when he went to univercity, little did he know he will soon lose his life to his own twin sister. Who was so afraid that the secret of the past will be revealed that she didn't stop from framing her own brother and losing everything. But Ji Feng didn't die, he traveled to ancient times, although he was alone, his family became his master and other disciples, he was a person with great cultivation and lived long in glory and died protecting the dinasty using his entire cultivation. The second life was quite happy and he was satisfied and thought it was the end, but when he woke up he found himself back to his first life, the moment when he first met his twin sister, who dared not to recognize him, but instead wanted to frame him on his first job. This is the beginning of their fates taking turnes.
Synopsis 2: After being reborn Ji Feng was on vacation before starting university and he wondered around thinking what to do first in this life, but taking a shortcut home he witnessed a struggle between a wounded man and unknown assassin. He saved the man, but the wounds were fatal. With the last breath the wounded man asked Ji Feng "Protect.. the Fifth master". Ji Feng "Yes, yes, I will protect the Fifth master's cat". Ji Feng sent the cat to the Feng residence, but the next day found the cat in embarrassing state. Thinking that the cat was hurt Ji Feng decided to let the cat live with him for the time being. Fifth master: He's going to rub me bald.
This review will be more lengthy and will have major spoilers about the story, so I will mark them.
As I mentioned this novel has similar small animal/human MLs, but this time due to cultivation of the cat ML appears in front of MC earlier.
I really liked this one, I think I liked it bit more. because MC wasn't overloaded with stuff, he only had this ancient taste and it was more logical (like no one knows if he met a master in the mountains or not, his cultivation and merits allowed him to basically glow, ML is also not human, so he had the beauty about him). The story also has an interesting family drama twist. The development of the relationship starts earlier and although the ML shares the same a bit blank canvas type of guy who knew nothing about romance before falling in love with MC type of story, but it's lovely.
So, what actually happened and why I liked it a bit more. Ji Feng arrives at the scene of his first part-time job, here his twin sister wants him to compensate for her bag, but her fram-up failed. To avoid the situation in general Ji Feng works in the back kitchen. He was asked to replace his friend Liu Yun, son of his benefactor. In the first life this benefactor Dr.Liu helped him with the aftermath, but because the Feng family became famous, Feng Ruixue wantonly used the name of the fifth uncle to do things beyond morality and cornered the young Ji Feng. Now that Ji Feng avoided it for the time being he thought of what to do next. Unlike previously he knows how to tell fortune and help people, so he does not need those part-time jobs. Luckily, he can cultivate and even more luckily he brought his own study full of treasures back in his consciousness. This was his start-up capital. Combining experience from the first life of knowing many places Ji Feng never had a stage fright when doing things. He wanted to invest and also come into contact with people to start his fortune-teller career. Liu Yun was one of the witnesses of his action and first to join on the pirate ship and watched in awe when Ji Feng solved Yin Marriages, brought people back to life, broke curses etc. This led to Mr.Ji starting to be known to others in the circle of the wealthy people. One of the clients was Dr.Lie mentor, Professor Qiu. Another person was a wealthy lady who bought the bracelet at the auction, Ji Feng saved her husband. He also helped actor Li to avoid disaster from the person who was after his life, because actor Li was one of few who helped him in the first life. Basically the small circle of people who helped him in the first life were the ones he helped first and continued to support. Basically, he solved evil that was planted by others and followed the teachings of his master.
On one of his randevous he met teacher from his university and helped to fill the attendance at the competition but with his talent managed to get the highest score and slowly emerged as a talented boy, much expected to enroll.
While doing good deeds Ji Feng never avoided his little milk cat. The black cat was pretty personable and had to avoid the rubs and hugs and kisses, but in the end had to give up. At the same time Feng Lin, the fifth master Feng, was waiting when his cultivation will be sufficient to turn back to human. This is where he is again different, he can switch back and forth without hindrance. And while he was a cat he noticed how different Ji Feng was and held many secrets. But the cultivation was supported by Ji Geng's cultivation and he could heal faster. There's a lot of cuteness between Ji Feng and Feng Lin in the cat body, especially Feng Lin's mood swings and jealousy, even when he had no idea about his feelings. When the time came he changed back for a short period because he felt Ji Feng went alone for the first time and he could be in danger. Among running, the sudden appearance of a black car and Ji Feng being pulled in was their first meeting as human and human. Feng Lin held on as much as he could, before he returned to being a cat. There is a lot of going back and forth, so slowly Ji Feng got aqcainted wwith Feng Lin and felt his familiar aura, so they became quite close. And under the guise of wanting to stay closer Feng Lin used excuse of another attempted assassination to live together. Ji Feng at first thought that he couldn't see Feng Lin's life because he was a noble person, but later realized with his growing feelings that the reason is because they're destined partners. Ji Feng was especially happy since he got a 2 in 1 package deal, he had a boyfriend and a cute cat. Although sometimes Ji Feng sound quite sweet-talking and taking advantage to rua his boyfriend, their interractions are quite sweet and Feng Lin's chase is a bit awkward and cute. But in the end they come together and love each other deeply. So Ji Feng was successful in his career opening a feng shui shop and helping people and also in his relationship with a partner destined for him.
Now onto the family drama twist. It was simple but I really liked it. So major spoilers ahead, don't read if you want to read te story and be surprised for yourself.

Lin family. The family twist starts from the Lin family invitation to Ji Feng to attempt finding the long-lost daughter of the Lin family who eloped 30 years prior.
Because Ji Feng was not on his territory he was cautious to not be high profile, but when he found a bad luck charm in the supposed to be smal reward full of pastries from a young couple who fought in the restaurant, Ji Feng knew immediately that someone did not want him to succeed and find the above-mentioned daughter of the Lin family (Lin Wan). When he was invited to the Lin main home what awaited him was an old man on his sick bed, the eloped daughter was a thorn in his heart for decades and his dissatisfaction since long grew into worry and stubborness was worn out, he just wanted to know the fate of his daughter.
Ji Feng started his journey from here. Lin Wan eloped with assosiate professor named Sheng Zhou, he was tutoring Lin Wan and they fell in love. Meeting opposition they decided to leave. Because the photos he saw were old and the fate of people is changing, but the fate of Lin Wan was "journey" and "having one son". Old Lin also received two letters from his daughter, one mentioned that she awaited the first child, the second letter was simpler, just informing that she was fine. And since there were no belongings that would help, Ji Feng was invesatigating from the corners he could. Followed by Feng Lin they first started from resettlment of Sheng Zhou's adoptive parents. They found the orphanage from which Sheng Zhou was adapted from and realized the truth behind the "journey", Sheng Zhou had a twin brother, but his brother was abducted and he was determined to find him. Because Sheng Zhou sent money to the orphanage and the dean saved all remittance slips this helped to follow the path on the map and realize that both he and Lin Wan wrote from small counties close to mountain villages, which always have trafficked children. They also thought that since Sheng Zhou was a teacher he must have helped teach kids in those counties and it would help finding them. This time they went to the last place mentioned 19 years ago. The travel to this place helped to realize thatthe first child that was never mentioned after the first letter was nto kept, but 19 years ago Lin Wan was pregnant again. Finding the family that Sheng Zhou helped Ji Feng finally had the biggest clue. Lin Wan's pregnancy diary that mentioned their next destination. It happened to be right next to the village Ji Feng came from. This coincidence left Ji Feng with a thought. After all it was 19 years ago and he was 19. Traveling back to the neighboring village Ji Feng found out that Lin Wan and Sheng Zhou indeed came around and as it seems finally found the twin brother, who happened none other that Ji Feng's father - Ji Da. But what he heard was that they suddenly left and counting days it was in December and Ji Feng was born in December. It was no longer such a coincidence. Thinking further Ji Feng thought of one person he knew about and this thought led him to find the truth. The one who revealed what happened in the past was Grandma Geng, she served as a midwife in the village, but at one point she stopped helping delivering babies and the moved out. When Ji Feng found her in the hospital he heard about events of that day in December. Lin Wan was pregnant at that time, but Ji Da's wife was also pregnant. And she went into labor in December, Grandma Geng helped with delivery. But the snow in December was heavy and thatched house of Ji Da was barely hanging and this is when the accident happened. The roof was about to fall, Sheng Zhou asked Ji Da to bring out his wife while he saved the born child. The beem fell and hit his head, so saving one life took another. Seeing her beloved being crushed Lin Wan was devasted and gave birth prematurely, the labor was heavy and it took its' toll, on her deathbed Lin Wan asked Ji Da and his wife to take her son back to S city to her father, she left money and hoped that life-saving grace was enough, but little did she know that Ji Da's wife was afraid they'll be retalliated, thus she concealed the couple comming to their house, bribed Grandma Geng with money who needed it for her son's injury and said outside that the couple left. But both Lin Wan and Sheng Zhou were buried in the unknown grave next to Ji Da and his wife. Ji Feng was brought up as a twin to Ji Xue and was instilled to take care of his sister. Thus they separated the family for years. But retribution came after them and when both Ji Feng and Ji Xue were barely 8 years ol, the couple died. This was the truth, Ji Feng and Feng Ruixue were merely cousins, and they were treated as twins because their fathers were twins. But Ji Feng was the true grandson of the Lin family, while Ruixue was vain and lying piece of garbage, inheriting all the selfish, vain and cowardly traits of her parents. Ji Feng brought the final relics of Lin Wan and also brought their ashes back to the Lin house. Although he was the benefactor, but was also a sad story.
At first Ji Feng didn't bother to recognize the Lin family, but something happened. It is connected to the reason why previously no one found Lin Wan and also why Feng Lin was assassinated.
The one behind the scenes was the eldest grandson of the Lin family, among his peers and descendants of the Lin family he was the only one successful, but it was nto enough, because old man wanted to find his daughter he felt it was a threat to getting the entire Lin family into his hands, he had a master by his side who was responsible for several things, like a curse on Feng Lin that rebounded because he was protected by Ji Feng's amulet. And also he attempted to kill the old man, but it backfired a lot and led to him being revealed to light as a mastermind, but the old man was protected by Ji Feng's protective beads. It was a fall for the master behind young master Lin and Lin himself. When old man Lin found out he couldn't tolerate it.
But the interactions between Ji Feng and old man Lin made him aware of a subtle feeling like he might have seen Ji Feng somewhere. This subtle feeling led to investigation, which resulted in a big surprise - he had a grandson! These news brought him happiness and hope, but he had no idea if Ji Feng would like to recognize him back. Because old man Lin was so welcoming and heart-warming Ji Feng was at first aware that the old man might be devastated finding out his life experience and be sorry for him, but seeing old man's hope and true love he made the compromise. Thus he got a loving grandpa and a big family. The family was wary at first and had no idea how the previous benefactor and master Ji happened to be the grandson of the Lin family. It's fate, baby. The feeling of fate was awe-inspiring actually. Like the line of fate led Ji Feng on the map of finding the truth behind his birth. The Lin family later realized that actually, they have a powerful master in their family! Isn't that great?! So the family didn't have any feud later on.
But it was obvious that some people might want to take advantage of the newly found grandson. And that is obviously - Feng Ruixue.
Feng Ruixue. She is more of a background character, but she keeps reappearing, yet it is enough to hear little bits and pieces to know her vain nature. Since Feng family relied on Feng Lin to make a fortune, Feng Ruixue always acted coincited when she was outside, as if she was above other people, she loved the rich and hated the poor, otherwise she wouldn't lie about life-saving. She grew up as Feng Haoyu's bride her entire life and showed off outside all the time. Her measure of love wasn't about grace, but about how much money you can spend on her. When the Feng family met a stumble (because Ji Feng returned the cat at first, but it was chased out and Feng Lin saw the true face of his eldest brother), on both sides amll actions of Ji Feng, which led to failed investment and Feng Lin, who basically refused to support the Feng first room, Feng Dahai went into decline. Feng Haoyu as a son went to work to support the family, but found how hard it was and still had to rely on his uncle's name to make it better. On the other hand Feng Ruixue was dissatisfied with the outcome, she wants to be the wealthy wife, but her income was cut off. Not to mention she wasn't the best person in school. Her character was notorious and several stories were circulating about her. 1st about the girl she bullied in high school, next was the embarrassing scene where she thought seniors were meeting her as Feng Haoyu's fiance (they were waiting for Ji Feng who won the competition, so Ruixue was slapped in the face), later she met one silly girl who believed her rhethoric and boasted how she will be working at Feng's and her uncle treated her well, but was caught by the above-mentioned uncle red-handed. The story also spread on university forum. Even the silly girl finally realized it was a scam, all others were aware that Feng Ruixue is just a vain bug. Feng Lin already disliked Feng Ruixue for her actions against Ji Feng when they first met and he was still in a cat form, but later when he found out Ji Feng's life story, his dislike turned into rage. This led to the story of Feng Dahai and his family falling out with the famous Feng Lin. Here came a boy named Cheng Meng into picture, he sweet-talked Feng Ruixue into submission and easily took her away from Feng Haoyu who once made him feel humiliated. Feng Ruixue was easy to change sides, since Cheng Meng spent money on her and she jumped up in a second. At first Cheng parents told Cheng Meng to keep Ruixue around since she's one of the Fengs, but later they realized that Ruixue and Ji Feng were "twins", so after hearing that famous and wealthy Lin family recognized Ji Feng as a grandson, Feng Ruixue thought she caught the big fish and was a big wealthy lady. She and Cheng family rushed to S city trying to play the family card. But neither Feng Ruixue nor Cheng family investigated the matter in detail, so they were caught during the meeting for fraud. Feng Ruixue tried to quibble that it was her who was real, but Ji Feng and old man Lin let her and others who were resent to know the true story of the past. It was the last soft knife Ji Feng sent to Feng Ruixue, let her know that she's still the peasant mountain girl she despised all her life, but he is from a nobler background. Ji Feng never took action against her for 1) it was against master's teachings and 2) With how Feng Ruixue is she will destroy her own life with her own hands and he wanted her to slowly feel the despair she made him experience in his first life. Feng Ruixue was taken away. At first she didn't believe it, but facts proved that what she was told was the truth. And she was nto welcomed as a daughter responsible for Ji Fengs parents to die and this fact being concealed for so many years. A real broom star. Because she was too sure about herself before leaving to S city Feng Ruixue also fell out with Feng family and Feng Haoyu, leaving no backing. She also revealed that it wasn't her who saved Feng Haoyu and was sick of hearing him remembering the past. But the Cheng family abandoned her and she was left alone with er early pregnancy. She tried to play the family card, but Ji Feng reminded her of all her sins. All roads were cut off. The last mention about Feng Ruixue is that she became a mistress, but fighting with the wife she wounded the other person and faced imprisonment.
On the other hand Ji Feng got rid off hindsance and lived his best life.
Feng Haoyu. I will shortly mention him. After all he was the saved boy. As Ji Feng never intended to reveal the truth, he basically used his presence to torture Feng Ruixue mentally. But Feng Haoyu had no idea about the past. So when he approached Ji Feng about Ruixue he was told to back off. Ji Feng knew he never wanted to be entangled by Haoyu simply because he knew his character, he was sentimantal, but it was him alone in those sentiments. At the final show down when Haoyu knew the truth Ji Feng told him that he would save whoever was in danger, it was Haoyu who was so sentimental and determined to repay. Otherwise he would have realized that Ruixue wasn't the one, how could little pampered girl who is afraid of anything do it. He would also continue trying to compensate on both sides, since he and Ruixue grew up together (same happened in the first life, Haoyu asked to forgive Ruixue just for the sentiment of growing together, but the life-saving grace was put aside). Even if at some point Feng Lin influenced Haoyu in his growth, but his parents influenced him more into those sentiments and indecisiveness. In the end he got what he got. But Ji Feng didn't care about those benefits from saving someone's life. In the end Feng Haoyu decided to change his fate and left doing his thing and cut off his connection with Ruixue who once agin tried to play the card.
A Hao. This is the man who dies in the first chapters. He and Feng Lin's secretary, secretary Hao, are twins, they were once saved by Feng Lin and dedicated their lives to him and were only ones who knew boss's secret. Because Feng Lin actually adopted into Feng's family he did not have close connection to other brothers, but it was okay to support them on the way. But he was close to Hao brothers. A Hao died due to assassination and it was a thorn in both Feng Lin's and secretary Hao's hearts. Ji Feng actually met one of the brothers in his previous life and that experience led him to doing one thing, finding A Hao's reincarnation. Sacrificing half a year of cultivation and being unable to read faces Ji Feng and Feng Lin brought back a baby from an orphanage. In the end Ji Feng and Feng Lin adopted the child under the affirmation from secretary Hao, although he knew it was his brother, but he wanted him to grow under Ji Feng as a master and a father instead, after all the child had a deep connection with Ji Feng from the very beginning. Thus the ending has a cute boy cub Lin Hao.
This I find a very cute ending for the entire story. Ji Feng and Feng Lin got married after Ji Feng's graduation and instantly completed Lin Hao's adoption. They became a happy famiy of three. Old man Lin was also happy. He became enlightened with years and missing his daughter. Although Ji Feng and Feng Lin played old man into believing that he was the one who got the two together, but this way they met no opposition. Old man Lin was also happy about getting great-grandson free of charge lol. With the love of the old man for the cub it let the young couple also had their time together.
The story is also intermittened with Ji Feng's good deeds in metaphysics. Although some of them are a bit repetitive in motivation (like many are about inheriting big business and using means to resolve the opponent). His feng shui shop became a big hit and many crowded to get the chance to meet the famous master Ji. Although the reviews on the platform looked like they were all bought. Little less was said about his university life, although he was always a prominent figure, after all many were impressed by school grass classmate Ji.
I found the story truly engaging and entertaining. The initial start of Ji Feng's journey led the way in the direction of his career, but his career led him to Lin family. So it was really nice. And nice pay off with the story of the twin sister, there wasn't much emphasis on her and it wasn't lacking as well, so she was present in entire novel and slow uncovering the truth and having that ending had its' own taste.
As I previously guessed I indeed read several novels from this author and many of those were quite nice. It was a good read to me.
RATE: 4.75/5. Although to me every read nowadays is a book I read only once (too much to read/watch), but it was truly great in its' own way :)
